Jets placing linebacker Quincy Williams on IR with shoulder injury

TheJets' defense has stumbled out of the gates in 2025, and now they'll be without one of their best players on that side of the ball for the foreseeable future.
LinebackerQuincy Williams, who suffered a shoulder injury just before halftime of the Week 3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is being placed on IR, according to multiple reports.
While it doesn't sound like Williams will miss the remainder of the season, he will be sidelined for a minimum of four games.
Williams, a former third-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been a tackling machine since he was claimed by the Jets in September 2021, compiling 486 total tackles to go along with 10.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and an interception while earning First Team All-Pro honors in 2023.
With the defensive-minded Aaron Glenn taking over as head coach and veteran coach Steve Wilks serving as defensive coordinator, the thought was that the Jets' D would be a strength of the team, but that hasn't been the case. The Jets rank 28th out of 32 teams with 31.0 point allowed per game, and rank 22nd in total defense (340.3 yards per game).
The Jets will look to rebound and earn their first win of the season when they visit the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
