Australia's climate change and energy minister, Chris Bowen, has appeared with Turkey's first lady, Emine Erdoan, at a major environment event in New York as negotiations over hosting rights for the Cop31 summit come down to the wire.
Bowen - who is in the US for talks at the UN general assembly - has been lobbying Turkey to drop its rival bid to host the conference in 2026 in order to secure the event on behalf of Australia and Pacific nations.
