Mac Jones' Thursday ended in celebration after leading the 49ers to a thrilling overtime upset against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. But his morning might've been even more eventful.

At the team hotel in Marina del Rey, about 15 minutes away from SoFi Stadium, Jones was on his balcony and saw a floating dead body in the water just below him (h/t The Athletic's Dianna Russini).

A bystander called the police, and the 49ers loaded the team bus while watching investigators and a coroner's van arrive at the scene.

All this before a paramount primetime matchup against a divisional rival on the road.

And you wouldn't have been able to tell by Jones' - and the 49ers' performance - against the Rams a few hours later.

Jones, battling through a sprained left knee and a cramping forearm, strung together one of the best games of his career, finishing 33-of-49 for 342 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Oh, and he did all that without several of San Francisco's top offensive targets, including Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Ricky Pearsall (knee), Jauan Jennings (ribs/ankle) and George Kittle (hamstring).

Per Russini, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said on Friday afternoon that the incident involving the deceased individual still was under investigation.

An eventful morning that led to a well-worth-it eventful evening for Jones and the 49ers.
