Drake Maye is filling Tom Brady's shoes just fine so far in New England.

The Patriots quarterback went off on Sunday afternoon and matched the best quarterback in franchise history while leading the team to a dominant 31-13 win over the Tennessee Titans. That pushed New England to 5-2 on the season and gave it its fourth straight win.

Maye was nearly perfect on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. He went 21-of-23 for 222 yards with a pair of touchdowns in the win. He had another 62 rushing yards on eight carries, too. That made him the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to complete 90% of his passes, throw for more than 200 yards and rush for more than 50 yards in a single game.

That stat, though, is one of several incredible figures to come out of Maye's performance. He's now the first quarterback in Patriots history to complete more than 90% of his passes in a game with at least 20 attempts, something not even Brady accomplished.

Maye is now the fourth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to have at least two passing touchdowns, two or fewer incompletions and at least 60 rushing yards in a single game. Lamar Jackson, Robert Griffin III and Walter Payton were the other three to pull that off.

As for Brady, the future Hall of Famer who led the Patriots dynasty to six Super Bowl championships, Maye matched him with the most games in team history in a single season with at least 200 passing yards, a 135 passer rating and two passing touchdowns. Maye already has four this season, something Brady did during the 2007 season.

After a bit of a slow start on Sunday, Maye hit Austin Hooper for a 3-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter to tie the game back up. He then hit Kayshon Boutte deep for a 39-yard score just before halftime. That pass traveled nearly 53 yards in the air.

Drake Maye's 39-yard TD pass to Kayshon Boutte traveled 52.6 yards in the air, Maye's 2nd of the season over 50 yards by air distance.

The Patriots scored twice in the third quarter to then put the game away. Rhamondre Stevenson punched in a 4-yard score early, and then K'Lavon Chaisson brought back a 4-yard fumble recovery for a score to seal the 18-point win.

Stevenson finished with 88 yards and his touchdowns on 18 carries. Stefon Diggs led the team through the air with 69 yards on seven catches. Cam Ward went 25-of-34 for 255 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Titans, who now sit at 1-6 on the season. Sunday's game was the first under interim coach Mike McCoy, who took over after they fired Brian Callahan earlier this week.

While Maye still has a long way to go to live up to the ridiculously high bar that Brady set for quarterbacks in New England, the former North Carolina star is settling into the role just fine as his second season gets going.
