Maxx Crosby trade rumors: Raiders reportedly tell star pass rusher he won't be dealt despite team's poor start
With the Las Vegas Raiders sitting at 2-5, the trade rumors are already swirling. And if the Raiders are going to sell off parts, the one player who would draw significant attention is star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
But the Raiders reportedly have no desire to part with their star player. The team reportedly met with Crosby on Tuesday to inform the four-time Pro Bowler that they aren't shopping him and won't deal him at the deadline, according to NFL Network.

That should come as welcome news to Crosby, who reportedly wants to remain in Las Vegas. That's not the case with everyone on the team, however, as wide receiver Jakobi Meyers reiterated his desire to be traded Tuesday.
While keeping Crosby around should satisfy the fan base, trading the star likely would have netted the Raiders a massive return. Crosby, 28, is one of the best pass rushers in the game. He already has three seasons with double-digit sack totals and has led the league twice in tackles for loss. He's a true game disruptor who offenses need to constantly double to ensure he doesn't singlehandedly ruin a game.
In addition to his on-field excellence, Crosby is under contract through the 2027 NFL season after signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension in the offseason. Any team trading for Crosby would get him for two and a half seasons, which only increases his trade value.
But the Raiders reportedly want to hold on to their franchise icon for now.
Though Crosby has accomplished quite a bit over his career, winning has remained elusive. The Raiders have just one winning season during Crosby's career. The team went 10-7 in 2021 and lost its first playoff game.
Despite all that losing, Crosby has never requested a trade and continued to sign extensions to remain with the team. The Raiders could gain a lot by making Crosby available in trade talks, but there's also value in sticking with a star player who wants to be the reason the team returns to prominence.
