Graham Gano doesn’t travel with Giants, setting up Younghoe Koo to kick vs. Bears
The Giants will have another new kicker when they take on the Bears on Sunday.
Graham Gano didn't travel to Chicago, officially setting up Younghoe Koo to takeover kicking duties for Sunday's contest.
Koo has officially been elevated from the practice squad ahead of his Big Blue debut.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity," Koo said this week. "I've been making it count every week and just staying ready."
Gano, whose dealt with numerous injuries throughout the year, now has a herniated disk in his neck.
He missed practice all week but was not placed on IR to make room for Koo on the roster.
It remains to be seen exactly how much time he will miss, but Koo is set to kick in his place for at least Sunday's matchup.
The activation has been a longtime coming for the 31-year-old, who signed with the team when Gano was injured back in September, but remained on the practice squad after being beat out by Jude McAtamney as the replacement.
McAtamney stuck around for four weeks, but was cut after his misses hurt the team in their collapse against the Broncos.
Gano was able to return for the past two games before being forced to the sidelines again.
Koo has drilled 85.8 percent of his field goal attempts over his eight-year career.
