5 things to watch as Giants face Bears in Week 10 of 2025 NFL season

The Giants continue to face adversity after having lost Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo for the year, along with dealing with injury crises at linebacker and in the secondary.

Last Sunday's loss to the 49ers dropped them to 2-7, putting more pressure on a team that's looking to eclipse last season's win total.

Here are some of the biggest stories to watch as the Giants look to avoid their first four-game losing streak of the season...

Can Jaxson Dart have a big day through the air?

The Bears are ranked 25th in the league against the pass and have been dealing with some injuries in the secondary in recent weeks. On Sunday, Joe Flacco took advantage of this as he passed for 470 yards.

For the Giants, Dart - who was named the NFL's offensive rookie of the month for October - has played well, but he hasn't exactly been putting up gaudy passing numbers. While he had 283 passing yards in the shootout loss to Denver, his next-best output was just 202 passing yards.

Could Sunday be an opportunity for Dart to showcase his ability to produce more through the air?

A local kid looks to build on his breakout performance

Lost in all the chaos of the Bears' stunning comeback win against the Bengals on Sunday was a breakout game for Bears rookie Kyle Monangai, who racked up almost 200 yards from scrimmage.

Monangai, who was born in New Jersey, went to high school at Don Bosco Prep and played college football for Rutgers, no doubt grew up watching the Giants and now has a chance to face them at the pro level.

Chicago could also get D'Andre Swift back this week, so they might end up with a two-pronged rushing attack. That doesn't bode well for the Giants and their 31st-ranked run defense.

Who is going to be the lead running back for the Giants?

After Skattebo's injury, it was widely anticipated that Tyrone Tracy Jr. would take over as the lead back, having rushed for over 800 yards last season.

However, against the 49ers, veteran Devin Singletary was more effective than Tracy and ended up getting more carries than him, as Tracy basically ended up in the third-down back role he had been playing with Skattebo healthy.

Are things set to continue in that vein, or will New York use both backs and ride the hot hand down the stretch?

Will the offensive line be affected by recent injuries?

New York's offensive line has been so much better since Andrew Thomas returned, but it could be tested this weekend as they have a couple of starters injured.

John Michael Schmitz hurt his shin in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and was replaced by Austin Schlottmann, while rookie Marcus Mbow was already in at right tackle for the injured Jermaine Eluemunor. The status of Schmitz and Eluemunor is up in the air, so New York could be shorthanded again.

They will be facing a defensive front that is led by Montez Sweat, who has four sacks. However, reinforcements were brought in at the trade deadline as they acquired Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, and he will make his Bears debut on Sunday.

Will Rome Odunze bounce back against a banged-up Giants secondary?

Although Sunday's game was a shootout, Odunze failed to register a catch, which led to his father posting some controversial reactions on social media.

Odunze leads the Bears with five touchdown catches this year, and also leads them with almost 500 receiving yards, so it's remarkable that they were able to rack up 47 points against the Bengals without any meaningful contributions from him.

He will be eager to get back into the mix on Sunday, though, and has a good chance of posting his third 100-yard game of the season against a Giants secondary that has been struggling. They could get Cor'Dale Flott and Jevon Holland back this week, which helps, but Paulson Adebo is still not practicing -- so he could be at least another week away.
