With the Philadelphia Eagles on the verge of a playoff spot, defensive lineman Jalen Carter will make sure he's 100 percent when the team needs him the most. Carter will reportedly miss Monday's game - and potentially more - after undergoing a procedure on both shoulders, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

While the procedure could sideline Carter for multiple weeks, the 24-year-old was not placed on Injured Reserve, hinting at a relatively quick return for the pass rusher.

This easily could turn out to be a multi-week absence, but being placed on injured reserve doesn't seem to be an option now; Jalen Carter will be considered week to week. https://t.co/Nmo8Srz6cQ

Carter reportedly underwent the procedure Monday, per Schefter. As a result, Carter won't take the field when the Eagles take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night in Week 14. Carter did play in the team's Week 13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Black Friday. He registered four tackles, including a sack and two passes defended in the loss. Despite his production, Carter only played 70.1 percent of the defensive snaps for the Eagles, a lower figure than usual for Carter.

On Wednesday, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio revealed Carter's shoulder was affecting his play this season, per NBC Sports Philadelphia.

He does have a shoulder issue," Fangio said. He's been playing with it. You know, late in the (Bears) game, he had a great play with it. But yeah, it's definitely something there."

Carter was listed with a shoulder injury ahead of the team's 2025 opener against the Dallas Cowboys, so it appears he's been limited by the issue all season.

The Eagles haven't clinched a playoff spot just yet, but all signs point to them getting in. Entering Week 14, the Eagles have a 95-percent chance at making the playoffs, per NFL.com. Only the Los Angeles Rams have a higher playoff percentage in the NFC.

Barring a massive collapse, the Eagles should get Carter back just in time for the postseason. If the procedure winds up restoring Carter to his usual form, that could give the Eagles a healthier version of one of their biggest defensive weapons right when the team will need it the most.
