With Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields both out, the Jetsannounced that rookie QB Brady Cook will start on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Week 15 contest will be Cook's first NFL start and the first time New York has started an undrafted rookie since Dec. 15, 1975, when J.J. Jones got the nod over an injured Joe Namath.

Cook played in relief for Taylor last week against the Miami Dolphins, entering midway through the first quarter and finishing with 163 yards (14 of 30 passing) and two interceptions. He was also sacked six times in the 34-10 loss.

Adrian Martinez will serve as the backup QB, head coach Aaron Glenn said Friday.

Glenn added that Cook has gotten "all the reps with the ones" this week after being thrust into the role last week.

After making his debut against the Dolphins, the 24-year-old QB said he was looking forward to going over the game film during the week and would be prepared to play against Jacksonville. Now, he'll get his chance.

"To have this tape, this experience to watch and to build on and learn from, that's going to be huge for me," Cook said. "I look forward to seeing it on tape and building off of it. However the reps shake out next week, I'm going to be ready to play."
