Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate declared for the 2026 NFL Draft on Tuesday evening and is now a potential target for the Giants.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to take the next step in my career and declare for the NFL Draft," Tate wrote in a lengthy letter on social media. "I'm proud of everything I've accomplished at Ohio State and will carry the lessons, relationships and memories from this program with me forever."

This past season, he had 51 catches for a career-high 875 yards and nine touchdowns to help the Buckeyes make it to the College Football Playoff, where they were upset by the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl. A season ago for the champion Buckeyes, Tate pulled down 52 passes for 733 yards and four touchdowns.

In three seasons in Columbus, the junior has 1872 yards on 121 catches and 14 touchdowns.

The Giants have the No. 5 overall pick after finishing the season with a record of 4-13, and could use another pass-catcher to pair with former first-round pick Malik Nabers.

Many mock drafts have Tate as the No. 1 wide receiver in this year's class. ESPN's Mel Kiper has Tate as a top 10 pick, while ESPN's Jordan Reid has Tate going to Big Blue at No. 5 even before he declared for the draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders and Jets have the top two picks in this year's draft, with both expected to select quarterbacks -- if Oregon's Dante Moore declares -- while the Cardinals (No. 3) and the Titans (No. 4) are ahead of the Giants.

The 2026 NFL Draft begins April 23.
