Giants 'all-in' on John Harbaugh, the 'No. 1 coach on their wish list'
When the Baltimore Ravens parted ways with John Harbaugh on Tuesday evening, the former Super Bowl winner instantly became the most sought after head coach available for hire.
Teams will certainly be aggressive in their pursuit, and the Giants are no exception.
Per SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes, the Giants are "all-in" on Harbaugh, who is "the No. 1 coach on their wish list."
Hughes notes that the Atlanta Falcons are also "increasingly interested."
Hughes reported on Tuesday evening that the Giants had already done a ton of preliminary research" on Harbaugh just in case he were to become available, and they want to bring him in for an interview.
While there are plenty of quality candidates available, including two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski, it's clear that Harbaugh's track record of program-building and winning a Super Bowl in 2012 puts him at the top of the list.
Harbaugh and the Ravens parted ways after 18 seasons, including an 8-9 record in 2025 that saw a missed field goal against the Steelers on the last play of the regular season wipe away a trip back to the playoffs.
There are several criteria that we're going to look for, leadership being an important element in the head coaching world," Giants GM Joe Schoen explained on Monday. Football acumen will be really important. Player development is very important, having a plan for player development. We have a young quarterback. It's going to be important that there's a plan in terms of Jaxson [Dart's] development. Holding people accountable, communication, there's a lot that goes into the head coach that can fall under that leadership element, but those are some of the characteristics that we're going to be looking for in the next head coach."
We are going to find the best leader for the franchise," Schoen later added.
