TheJets are signing quarterback Bailey Zappe to a futures contract, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

By signing Zappe to a futures deal, which is a one-year, non-guaranteed contract, the Jets can add a QB to the roster for the start of next season's offseason workouts without the money counting towards this year's salary cap.

Teams typically sign a handful of players to futures deals at the end of each season to lock them in for the following year's minicamp and training camp.

Zappe, 26, started nine games for the Patriots between the 2022-23 seasons, completing 62.1 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He then started one game for Cleveland in 2024, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions, and spent the 2025 season on the Browns' practice squad.

While Zappe almost certainly will not be in the mix to start for the Jets next season, signing him to a futures deal gives New York another arm to throw into the mix for Aaron Glenn's second year of offseason work.
