Former Giants HC Brian Daboll adds Eagles' OC job to list of interviews
Former Giantshead coach Brian Daboll is becoming a popular name on the coaching market and could end up back in the NFC East.
Daboll is expected to interview for the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator job, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
It'll be one of the many interviews Daboll has had this offseason, including a shot at the Tennessee Titans' head coaching vacancy and Los Angeles Chargers' OC job. Schefter noted that Daboll is expected to have other interviews this hiring cycle as well, likely for OC positions.
In Philadelphia, head coach Nick Sirianni demoted OC Kevin Patullo after the team's wild-card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. The team is now looking for its fifth OC in six years. It's possible Patullo remains with the Eagles in a different role, as he served as the passing game coordinator prior to his promotion to OC for the 2025 season.
The Eagles' interest in Daboll goes beyond his familiarity with the former division rival. He worked with Sirianni in Kansas City in 2012 when he was the Chiefs' offensive coordinator under Romeo Crennel and Sirianni was the WR coach.
Daboll was also the OC and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2017 when they won the National Championship with Eagles QB Jalen Hurts as the starter and Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa as the backup. Philadelphia WR DeVonta Smith was also a freshman at Alabama that year and caught the game-winning pass in the title game from Tagovailoa after Hurts was benched.
And of course, Daboll coached RB Saquon Barkley during their time in New York together. Overall, Daboll went 20-40-1as head coach of the Giants. He was named the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year after leading Big Blue to a 9-7 record and its only playoff win since 2011.
