The Chargers will now have to find their second new coordinator of their offseason as Jesse Minter is being hired by the Baltimore Ravens to be their fourth head coach in franchise history.

Minter called the Chargers defense for the past two seasons under head coach Jim Harbaugh. He followed Harbaugh from the University of Michigan where he was the defensive coordinator from 2022-2023. From 2017-2020, Minter was a defensive assistant and defensive backs coach for the Ravens under then-head coach John Harbaugh.

In Minter's first season as a defensive coordinator, he led the Bolts to the number one scoring defense in the NFL (17.7) while finishing 11th in total yards allowed (324.4). In 2025, the Chargers finished 10th (20.0) and 5th (285.2), respectively.

Minter will be remembered in Chargers history as the defensive coordinator that helped turnaround one of the league's worst units during Brandon Staley's tenure as head coach (2021-2023). He produced a very stingy group that was made up of a few notable stars, but mainly his defenses were held together by castoffs from other franchises and first or second-year players that were forced into action early.

The Chargers were lucky to have Minter for these past two seasons and we wish him nothing but the best in Baltimore as he takes the next step of his coaching career.
