In what has got to be one of the most surprising news breaks in this year's coaching carousel cycle, the Buffalo Bills are reportedly interviewing former Chargers and Colts quarterback Philip Rivers for their head coach vacancy. Rivers came out of retirement this season to help Indianapolis make a late push for a playoff spot but ultimately fell short with three consecutive losses before rookie Riley Leonard started the season finale.

The crazy part is, Rivers has zero experience coaching at the college or NFL level and has been the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School since his first retirement following the 2020 season.

An interesting bit of history here regarding the Bills and Rivers is that the latter started his last playoff game against Buffalo in what became Josh Allen's first postseason win of his career. Now, there's an outside shot that Rivers will be the one to guide Allen into the next era of his career in the post-McDermott reality.
