Patriots to play Seahawks in Super Bowl 60

The New England Patriots' opponent in the upcoming Super Bowl is set. The Seattle Seahawks emerged victoriously from the NFC and will take on their AFC counterparts with the Vince Lombardi on the line in two weeks.

Whereas the Patriots won the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos in defensive fashion and with a final score of 10-7, the Seahawks locked up their conference via a 31-27 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Rams.

The two teams will now head to Santa Clara to face off in Super Bowl XL. It is a matchup with quite a bit of history.

The Patriots and Seahawks, after all, famously crossed paths in Super Bowl XLIX to cap the 2014 season, a game that ended with a 28-24 New England win. That victory was sealed by Malcolm Butler intercepting Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson on the goal line in the late fourth quarter.

Super Bowl LX will be kicked off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 8.
