The Cincinnati Bengals had a disappointing year overall, but there were some bright spots.

One of those bright spots came via free agency, as the team was able to finally beef up the guard position by adding Dalton Risner.

Pro Football Focus' Bradley Locker recently published his take on the best and worst signings for each team, and Risner got the honors of top addition for Cincinnati.

Here is what Locker wrote:

Risner signed only a one-year deal but ultimately played 767 snaps for Cincinnati across both left and right guard. The former Viking was especially strong in pass protection, allowing only two sacks and 17 pressures across 503 pass-blocking snaps, helping the Bengals' offensive line trend in the right direction.

The veteran guard has been vocal about his desire to return to the team and for it to happen earlier in the offseason this time. Hopefully the front office recognizes the slam dunk opportunity.

Meanwhile, linebacker Oren Burks was chosen as the worst signing. The former Packer inked a two-year deal but saw only 340 snaps, which yielded a 30.2 overall PFF grade - the lowest at the position," Locker wrote.

The Bengals have a lot of work to do at linebacker, d-line, and safety, among other positions on the defense. We'll see what Duke Tobin has in store in what will likely be a crucial offseason.
