Former Jetsoffensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand has found a new home after parting ways with the team earlier in the week.

The 43-year-old will be joining the Atlanta Falcons and new head coach Kevin Stefanski's staff as the offensive passing game coordinator, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Engstrand spent one season as New York's OC under Aaron Glenn after coming with the head coach from the Detroit Lions.

Despite his success with the Lions, the Jets finished the 2025 season ranked 29th in both total offense (263.6 yards per game) and scoring offense (17.6 points per game).

He'll now get another chance to prove himself alongside new OC Tommy Rees with a young, developing offense featuring QB Michael Penix Jr. and RB Bijan Robinson.

Meanwhile, the Jets are still searching for Engstrand's replacement for the 2026 season. As of Wednesday, they had completed virtual interviews with five candidates for the opening: Frank Reich, Greg Roman, Darrell Bevell, Ronald Curry, and Lunda Wells. Roman was reported earlier Saturday to be coming for an in-person interview early next week. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, New York's list of candidates is down to three, including Roman.

SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes previously reported the Jets are looking for a more experienced play-caller and talks were progressing with former NFL head coach and coordinator Frank Reich. The team does have multiple offensive coaching positions to fill, so it's possible some of the OC candidates could be hired for a different role, Hughes noted Saturday.
