The Pittsburgh Steelers already look very different from how they looked this time last month. With the hire of Mike McCarthy as new head coach, and the subsequent hires of several assistants to make one of the largest staffs in franchise history, Pittsburgh is entering a new era - and they could be doing so without one of their top players.

In an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said the Steelers could receive a second-round pick for T.J. Watt if they were willing to send him to another team.

Top Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo said the most the Steelers could probably get in a trade this offseason for TJ Watt is a 2nd round pick," Andrew Fillipponi posted on X.

The Steelers and Watt agreed to a three-year contract extension last offseason that made Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. However, the former Defensive Player of the Year has had a pair of down seasons, relatively speaking.

After a 19-sack season in 2023, Watt totaled just 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons. Should the Steelers truly be open to moving Watt, a contender in need of an upgrade at edge rusher may be willing to make a move.

Watt was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and has become one of the best players in franchise history. His 115 sacks are the most in Steelers history. He is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time All-Pro.
