Patriots adding Charles London to 2026 coaching staff, per report

A familiar face will be rejoining head coach Mike Vrabel's ranks in 2026.

Longtime NFL assistant Charles London has accepted a position on the New England Patriots' coaching staff, according to a report Thursday from Chad Graff of The Athletic.

While his official title in Foxborough remains to be determined, London is expected to work on the offensive side of the ball. The 50-year-old had served as the quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator of the two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year's Tennessee Titans back in 2023.

From there, London spent 2024 as the quarterbacks coach of the Seattle Seahawks and most recently held the same role for the New York Jets. The sides parted ways in January as part of a 3-14 organizational overhaul.

A former running back at Duke, London began his coaching career at his alma mater before breaking into the NFL with the Chicago Bears as an offensive quality control coach from 2007 through 2009. He went on to work as a pro scout for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 and initially headed to Nashville as an offensive assistant and quality control coach in 2011.

London then oversaw the running backs and doubled as the recruiting coordinator at Penn State before following current Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien to the Houston Texans. Overlapping along the way with Vrabel, who rose from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator from 2014 through 2017, London would later become the running backs coach in Chicago for three campaigns.

And prior to circling back to the AFC South in 2023, he spent two campaigns as the Atlanta Falcons' quarterbacks coach.

The new league year opens next Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
