San Francisco 49ers, kicker Eddy Piñeiro agree to contract extension
The San Francisco 49ers have locked in their placekicker for the foreseeable future.
Eddy Pineiro and the 49ers have agreed on a four-year, $17 million contract extension, his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey told ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
His contract includes a guaranteed $10 million, the agents told ESPN.
Pineiro was set to become a free agent this week.
In his last game, Pineiro scored the only points for San Francisco in their 41-6 blowout loss in the NFC Divisional Round to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. He went 2-for-2, connecting on 40- and 56-yard field-goals.

Pineiro is 30 years old. He signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Florida in 2018, though he didn't play for them because of injury.
Pineiro was traded to the Chicago Bears and has also played for New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.
He joined the 49ers on a one-year deal in September 2025. That season, Pineiro finished 28-for-29 on field goals and tied Nick Folk for best field goal percentage in the NFL at 96.6%. His only miss of the season was a 64-yard field goal attempt against the Colts that was just a few feet short, hitting the crossbar of the uprights.
His kicking accuracy surely will help the 49ers in the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The last time San Francisco had a placekicker this accurate was Robbie Gould from 2017 to 2022, which included a Super Bowl appearance.
