John Schneider and Mike Macdonald are well on their way to assembling the roster that will look to defend their Super Bowl LX title on the field during the 2026 season.

While the Seahawks and their fans watched a handful of members of the roster depart in free agency this spring, the team has worked to fill the void of several of the departures with cost effective signings of veteran players.

The additions so far have included Emanuel Wilson at running back, Noah Igbinoghene at cornerback and Rodney Thomas at safety. Now, thanks to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, the details of Thomas' contract are now known.

#Seahawks Rodney Thomas: one year, $1.402M, $187,500 signing bonus, salary $1.215M, salary cap $1.262M, veteran salary benefit

As Wilson notes in the post, Thomas' contract is simple, with a base salary and signing bonus.

  • Base salary: $1.215M
  • Signing bonus: $187,500

While this contract puts Thomas in line to earn $1.402M during the 2026 season, because the contract qualifies as a veteran salary benefit contract, Thomas' cap hit will be only $1.262M for the year. This is the same kind of contract that tight end Eric Saubert signed last offseason that led to the unique situation where he was released and then brought back to the roster over the course of a matter of days because the two sides wanted to complete an extension, which is precluded by the veteran salary benefit contract.
