As the 2026 NFL league year has begun, the Patriots are now open to negotiate a contract extension with star cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

While preliminary talks have reportedly begun, no deal has yet been reached between the two sides. New England's brass has made it clear, however, that Gonzalez is part of the team's future moving forward.

It's no secret we'd like to keep Christian Gonzalez," Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf said earlier this month. And I don't know what the timing of that is, but that's something that certainly we're preparing for."

Coming off an elite postseason performance, the 23-year old All-Pro is set to cash in on his new deal - one could even make him the highest paid cornerback in football. Should the Patriots make that investment? And which recently signed cornerback could they model an extension with Gonzalez after?
