Drew Allar has a new home after an eventful four years in Happy Valley. Allar was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 76th overall pick of round 3 in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Allar was initially expected to be one of the top selections of this year's draft. However, a poor start by the Nittany Lions offense and a season-ending injury caused Allar's stock to drop. Penn State's shocking 3-3 start to the season and poor offensive play ultimately led to the dismissal of James Franklin in a year the program was expected to compete for a national title. Allar would suffer a broken ankle against Northwestern, ending his season after six games. Allar would spend the rest of the season mentioning new starting quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, who surpassed expectations before transferring to Virginia Tech following the season.

Allar has the prototypical body and arm of an NFL quarterback, standing at 6-5, 235 lbs. He also has surprising mobility for his size and can use his legs to convert first downs as needed. Allar's biggest weakness was his lack of consistency. He is careful with the ball and avoids turnovers, although he did have costly interceptions in recent losses to Notre Dame and Oregon.
