The Joe Burrow era has had its fair share of ups and downs.

Many of them coincided with the extended health or devastating injuries of the star QB himself.

But now he's more confident in his team than ever, predicting a Super Bowl victory in May.

Is he right?

The argument for a wildly successful season

Cincinnati has retooled its defensive line, arguably the biggest weakness last year outside of the linebacker group.

They've added a legitimate impact player on defense in Dexter Lawrence, an absolute game-wrecker in both the pass and run game.

And they shored up the secondary with better tackling in the form of Bryan Cook.

Those are just two of many additions that show they were serious about filling holes on the defense.

Meanwhile, the offense is as strong as it's ever been, with Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins not even having hit their primes yet. And the offensive line is finally playing with consistency.

The argument for another disastrous season

Joe Flacco did a nice job filling in for Burrow after he went down with a turf toe injury, even making the Pro Bowl for his statistically impressive year.

But Flacco only went 1-5 as a starter.

If Burrow goes down again, the Bengals may not even make the playoffs.

And the chances of Burrow going down for an extended period of time are not negligible.

The other thing to consider is that the defense was absolutely terrible last year, 30th in DVOA. At one point, they were on pace to be the worst defense of all time.

Upgrades are nice, but it'll take a massive improvement just to be average on defense.

There's also the issue of chemistry; by the time the defense gels, the losses may have already piled on.

Lastly, the centerpiece of the defense, Dexter Lawrence, struggled with an elbow injury last year. It's not absolutely certain that he's the same player he was a couple of years ago.

With that food for thought, we ask you: What are the best-case and worst-case scenarios for the Bengals in 2026?
