The Miami Dolphins are in the middle of a major rebuild under the leadership of new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley. Plenty of players have been shipped out, while many others have been brought in to reshape Miami's roster. One such player is new starting quarterback Malik Willis - formerly of the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers.

Willis was a backup in Green Bay for the past two seasons, but saw in-game action on multiple occasions when starter Jordan Love was unable to suit up due to injury. His body of work in those starts was impressive - which helped him earn his three-year deal with the Dolphins this offseason.

His play during those starts was apparently enough to earn him a higher ranking than plenty of incumbent starters around the league in Chris Simms' 2026 QB rankings list.

Willis checks in at #19 on Simms' list - but ranks ahead of many established starters.

Tua Tagovailoa - formerly of the Dolphins, but now with the Atlanta Falcons - landed at #36. Kirk Cousins of the Las Vegas Raiders checked in at #34. Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers was at #31, while Kyler Murray of the Minnesota Vikings landed at #30. Aaron Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Steelers checked in at #26.

Jalen Hurts - Super Bowl winning quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles - landed at #21. C.J. Stround - former rookie of the year winner from the Houston Texans - ranked #20.

For some, Willis landing above many of the names listed behind him was shocking, but for Simms, Miami's new signal-caller has superstar talent."
