Patrick Mahomes shows off injury recovery in video from Chiefs OTAs
The Kansas City Chiefs held their first OTA practice of the offseason on May 26, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to take the field for at least part of the session.
The Chiefs posted video of Mahomes - who is recovering from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee suffered in the Chiefs' Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers - throwing a pass during the session. The veteran quarterback was wearing a bulky brace on his injured knee but looked comfortable dropping back to pass.

Mahomes' participation in the practice session is another step forward in his recovery from the major knee injury.
Mahomes has frequently showcased his recovery in brief videos posted during the offseason. In late March, he posted a four-second video of him throwing during an indoor workout to his Instagram story. More recently, he shared a clip of him successfully executing a golf swing at an annual event for his non-profit, "15 and the Mahomies Foundation."
Those social media fragments aligned with Chiefs coach Andy Reid's optimistic comments about Mahomes' potential availability for OTAs.
"He is in a good position to be able to do some things," Reid told reporters at a May 2 availability.
Even so, the extent of Mahomes' participation during Tuesday's practice remains unclear. The session was closed to reporters, and the Chiefs didn't provide any additional updates about the veteran quarterback's status aside from the posted video clip.
Kansas City fans should have more information about Mahomes' overall progress after the Chiefs' May 29 OTA practice, which will be the first session open to the media.
But for now, confidence appears to be growing about the 30-year-old quarterback suiting up for the Chiefs in their Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football."
