At long last, we finally have the main details on the Seattle Seahawks' newest edge rusher.

Former first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr agreed to a one-year contract with Seattle earlier in this month, an expected move following an NFL Draft in which the Seahawks did not select any pass rushing specialists. Initial reports had Fowler's contract being worth up to $5 million, but it's always important to wait to see how the contract is laid out.

OverTheCap.com has got the info on Fowler's contract, which shows just how low-risk and inexpensive Fowler's contract actually is.

Dante Fowler's contract
  • Base salary: $1,320,000
  • Signing bonus: $500,000
  • Per-game roster bonus: $680,000 (or $40,000 for each game Fowler is on the active roster)
  • Total cap number: $2,500,000

We can assume that the other $2.5 million of Fowler's contract consists of undisclosed incentives. Or, putting it another way, this is a one-year, $2.5 million contract with incentives that can bring the total money to $5 million. If for some reason Fowler does not make final roster cuts, the only dead money the Seahawks take on is the $500,000 in signing bonus money. Otherwise there's $2 million saved in case it doesn't work out.

Seattle still has $30 million in cap space, although it'll drop a tiny bit once Jadarian Price signs his rookie contract.
