Managing a team in the NFL is no easy feat. There are a lot of moving parts, egos, and money involved. One of my favorite things about the Denver Broncos in their current iteration from a team management perspective is that they reward players who step up and stand out.

Patrick Surtain II is not an exception to that rule. Yesterday, Surtain received a $5 million raise for the 2026 season for his stellar play in 2025. Additionally, the Broncos' shutdown corner has the opportunity to earn another $5 million next season if he makes All-Pro or the Pro Bowl.

Goodness. This is quite nice of Broncos. Source confirms Denver is giving Patrick Surtain II a $5M raise this year plus another $5M in incentives tied to All Pro or Pro Bowl honors. (1st @AdamSchefter).

The Broncos have made headlines this off-season by basically resigning their whole team from '25, minimizing churn, maximizing continuity, and most certainly giving a big morale boost to the players. Many NFL teams treat their players like numbers. The Broncos did in recent history largely due to a rotating door of head coaches and attempts at finding a decent starting quarterback.

In some instances, you need to churn the roster in order to improve it. However, it is refreshing to see a team keep so many players from last season when the team overall performed at an excellent level. Moves like this will help raise the level of play in Denver. Other players will see that if they step up as Surtain does-they too will be rewarded.
