Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has announced his retirement from the NFL.

In a post on his social media accounts, Wilson writes, Thank you, Football. Love, #3."

Wilson recently accepted a job with CBS as their newest NFL analyst where he will replace Matt Ryan on The NFL Today.

Wilson played one season for the Steelers in 2024, throwing 16 touchdowns to five interceptions and going 6-5 in the regular season and leading Pittsburgh to a wild card berth before losing to the Baltimore Ravens. He spent the 2025 season with the New York Giants, going 0-3 in three starts before being benched for Jaxson Dart.

Wilson was a third-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, where he would lead Seattle to two Super Bowls and one Super Bowl victory. He is a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
