Kansas City Chiefs insider drops an interesting nugget on QB Patrick Mahomes just before training camp | A to Z Sports

ESPN's Nate Taylor drops an interesting note regarding Patrick Mahomes and training camp

QB outlook: At this point, the Chiefs expectPatrick Mahomesto be in uniform when the season begins Sept. 14 against the Broncos. Mahomes, who is recovering from a left knee injury suffered in December, was able toparticipatein each of the Chiefs' offseason practices, which was a great indication of his rehab work.

In training camp, Mahomes hopes to be included in 11-on-11 team periods and eventually be cleared for full contact ahead of the preseason. Throughout his nine-year career, Mahomes has played at least one game in the preseason to prepare for the regular season. He'll hope to continue that streak in August." -Nate Taylor, ESPN

Chiefs Get More Good News on WR Rashee Rice Ahead of Camp | Heavy Sports

I was told that was an issue because he was worried about maybe getting an infection while he was in prison, because he couldn't rehab like he normally would,"ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reportedon June 16. He did emerge with no major issues, so he's gonna rehab that over the next six weeks, get ready for training camp."

On Saturday, Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reported the newest bit of good news surround Rice - namely that he could be ready to roll come the team's Week 1 matchup against theDenver Broncoson Monday, September 14 in Kansas City.

I'm told Rice might not even face a physically unable to perform (PUP) designation at the start of camp,"Goldman wrote. It all comes down to the work he'll put in for the next six weeks."

Why Chiefs didn't make a move at wide receiver this offseason | ESPN

Last season, Worthy said he was unable to display his full potential. A collision with tight endTravis Kelceon the third play of the season led to Worthy missing the next two games. Once he returned, he played with a torn right labrum which required surgery in January to repair. Reid later acknowledged that because of the injury, the Chiefs couldn't have Worthy run certain routes. He finished last year with 42 receptions on 73 targets for 532 yards and one touchdown, ranking 153rd in receiver score.

I feel like that ... might have been the best thing for me, learning how to be a pro and learning how to approach, obviously, the mental aspect, just getting your body prepared for certain things," Worthy said. I feel like I kind of hit that hard this offseason. I know what kind of player I can be and what things I can do on the field and what I can bring to the team. That's going to show for itself.

I have goals, just being better in meetings every day, going out to practice early and getting early catches in, stuff that's going to build me into getting 1,000 yards. Not wanting it, earning it."

Thornton ranked 123rd in receiver score last season in part because he played 38% of the Chiefs' snaps. That could change this season as he wants to demonstrate he can be a complete receiver - and not only a deep threat.

NFL Rookies Who Could Emerge as Surprise Starters in 2026 | Bleacher Report

Cyrus, he's an electric route runner," teammate Xavier Worthytold reporters. I mean, obviously you guys could see it, he has an explosion, obviously good ball skills, and he's a smart player. (He) just does a lot of the same things that Coach (Andy) Reid was getting on me about when I was younger."

For too long, the Chiefs have relied almost solely on tight end Travis Kelce to work the middle of the field with the type of routes that are necessary to move the chains. Allen should quickly grow into another option as quarterback Patrick Mahomes gains confidence in the rookie's ability.

He's getting a share of the very-limited repetitions wherePatrick Mahomesis on the field for 7-on-7," Chris Goldmanof A to Z Sports reported. That tells me the Chiefs would like for him to be involved during his first year, even if it hasn't been the norm for Kansas City rookie receivers in the past."

With Rashee Rice's unreliability, Worthy's continued development and Tyquan Thornton not showing much during his first season with the team, Allen will have every chance to exceed expectations typically placed upon Day 3 draft picks.

Chiefs select All-SEC star with first-round pick in latest mock draft | Chiefs Wire

According to Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling, theChiefscould opt to pick Louisiana State University tight end Trey'Dez Green with the No. 25 selection in Round 1.

Travis Kelceis an annual rental at this point, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see one of the most prolific tight ends in NFL history call it a career after this season," Easterlingwrote in a recent mock draft. Green is a towering target with impressive athleticism for his size, giving him tons of upside as a pass-catching weapon at the next level. He could be a dangerous addition to a Kansas City offense that already has some explosive playmakers forPatrick Mahomes."

Green earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2025, tallying 33 receptions for 433 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. The Zachary, Louisiana native will need to build on his outstanding sophomore campaign to continue trending as a potential first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

What is the ceiling (and floor) for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2026? | Touchdown Wire

Ceiling:12-5

There were plenty of reasons outside of the skill level on the field that the Chiefs floundered last year. But it was also clear that the talent level isn't quite what it was when the franchise was on its stretch of Super Bowl success. There are still some key pieces from those championship runs in place, and that should be enough to elevate the franchise back to playoff success.

Floor:6-11

It's hard to imagine things getting worse for the Chiefs than they did last season. They had pretty poor luck, and injuries were an issue along the way as well. Patrick Mahomes is still young enough to recover from his ACL injury, and Travis Kelce felt confident enough to return for one more season. This team doesn't lack talent, and they're good enough to replicate last season at least.

Brandon Aiyuk says go Commanders" in latest Instagram video | Pro Football Talk

The video comes roughly two weeks after Aiyuk posted multiple videos critical of the 49ers, nine days after he deleted the videos, and one week after he posted a video with the caption coming to a end zone near [you]."

It's believed by many tha he'll eventually land with the Commanders, after the 49ers release him. That hasn't happened yet.

The 49ers have been squatting on Aiutk's rights, with the goal of engineering a trade. If Aiyuk shows up when training camp opens, the only move may be to cut him.

If he practices with the 49ers, a season-ending injury would put the team on the hook for more than $26 million. As it currently stands, the 49ers owe him nothing.

One NFL team doesn't want to deal with' Brendan Sorsby | Yard Barker

The Mougey/Aaron Glenn regime has steered clear of players with character concerns,"wroteCimini.

Sorsby was projected to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in next year's stacked draft class, trailing only Arch Manning and Dante Moore. Then again, placing over 9,000 wagers during his collegiate career, including in games involving his own team, is a major offense.

Given the PR nightmare that would come with it, the Jets might take a different course of action to find their franchise quarterback.

Some evaluators consider Sorsby a first-round talent. Another disagreed, saying, if he's a clear-cut first-rounder, why didn't he come out [in the April draft]?'" Cimini added.

Clearly, this isn't a routine player evaluation. One person close to the situation doubted the Jets' interest, suggesting they don't want to deal with it.'"

In mid-June Reacts' poll, Chiefs' fans reveal the team's weakest links

Nearly half of polled Chiefs fans see the wide receiver group as the weakest link on offense, but the tight ends aren't far behind. Clearly, Chiefs Kingdom is concerned about the pass-catching group as a whole heading into the 2026 season.

Voters were torn between defensive ends and linebackers when picking the weakest link on the Chiefs' defense. The edge defenders were the top pick; fans are concerned that the group is made up of just George Karlaftis, Ashton Gillotte and rookie R Mason Thomas.
