Lions CB Terrion Arnold being held without bond after kidnapping charges

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, arrested Wednesday on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping, made his first court appearance Thursday, June 26, Hillsborough County (Florida) State Attorney Suzy Lopez said on social media.

Lopez wrote in an Instagram caption that Arnold "is still a danger to our community and should be held without bond until trial." Arnold, who faces life in prison, will remain in custody and be held without bond.

A pretrial detention hearing will be held Monday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Why was Terrion Arnold arrested?

Arnold voluntarily surrendered to authorities Wednesday, June 24, in Florida after facing an arrest warrant in connection to a robbery and kidnapping in Tampa, according to the Florida state attorney's office in Hillsborough County.

The Florida state attorney's office announced Arnold will face "multiple felony charges which carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison." He will have a pretrial detention hearing Monday, June 29, and is being held without bond.

According to a press release, Arnold is accused of coordinating and directing co-conspirators to lure three men to an apartment where the victims were "robbed, beaten, and held at gunpoint."

Arnold has previously denied involvement in "what prosecutors allege was a revenge crime some of his associates are now charged with and awaiting trial for without bond in Florida," according to police interviews and incident reports obtained by theDetroit Free Pressearlier this year.

What did Terrion Arnold do, according to prosecutors?

The accusations against Arnold indicate a revenge crime - retaliation for two robberies that occurred at an Airbnb that Arnold was renting in Largo, Florida, according to documents obtained by the Detroit Free Press. Arnold estimated he had more than $250,000 in cash and goods stolen from the house he had rented from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1.

Arnold did not report the property stolen until 9:05 p.m. ET on Feb. 3, days after the robberies occurred, because he wasn't initially aware anything had been stolen, he told police. He also declined to press charges in the larceny of his stolen goods, which included $100,000 in cash he had set aside to gamble at a local casino.

Authorities allege Arnold then coordinated an attack on who he suspected to be the perpetrators.
