Eagles schedule preview: Colts
When and where: Week 14 at home
Key additions: EDGE Arden Key, EDGE Michael Clemons, LB Akeem Davis-Gaither
Key subtractions: WR Michael Pittman, LB Zaire Franklin, RT Braden Smith, EDGE Kwity Paye, S Nick Cross, LB Germaine Pratt, CB Kenny Moore
Last season: The Colts completely collapsed, but extended the health insurance of Philip Rivers, his wife, and his 10 children another five years. That's a class act franchise right there.
The question for this team: How soon does everyone get fired?
The 2025 Colts started 8-2 before hitting their bye in Week 11. They never won again. Daniel Jones had a good but overstated start before getting hurt and the team turned to a 44 year old high school coach to replace him. After 9-8 and 8-9 seasons in the two years prior, this is the kind of petering out that gets people fired. GM Chris Ballard, who has been there since 2017 and has one playoff win to show for it, and head coach Shane Steichen, who is 2-10 against the Texans and Jaguars, got to keep their jobs. This spring, they haven't done anything to show they deserve to keep them.
Michael Pittman was given away for scraps (a 7th/6th round pick swap), the team has no up and coming WR that he was blocking to replace him. Daniel Jones was wisely transition tagged and then given a two year deal, the Colts will save cap space when they cut him after the season because the new GM and head coach want a real QB.
The AFC South is a competitive division, with everyone except the Colts winning it twice over the past six seasons. The Colts haven't won it since 2014.
The 2026 Colts seem to be just waiting for the season to end. Indianapolis will be coming off their bye before playing the Eagles. Could that be when a coaching change is made?
