The Buffalo Bills continue managing their 91-man training camp roster, with WGR550's Sal Capaccio first reporting the Bills have signed cornerback D.J Miller Jr., releasing safety Wande Owens in a corresponding move.

Prior to signing with Buffalo, Miller spent the previous two seasons playing in the UFL with the Michigan Panthers (2025 UFL season), and Columbus Aviators (2026 UFL season).

With the UFL's Panthers, the 5'10", 193-pound Miller made 29 tackles (17 solo), two interceptions, and eight pass defenses in 10 regular-season games; adding nine tackles (8 solo) and three pass defenses in two postseason games during the 2025 UFL season. As a member of the Aviators, Miller totaled 24 tackles (20 solo), one tackle for loss, nine pass defenses, and three interceptions for 39 yards in nine games played.

Before joining the UFL, Miller played college football at Kent State during the 2022 and 2022 NCAA football seasons. In two campaigns, Miller started 19 of 23 total games played, claiming 109 tackles (68 solo), one tackle for loss, seven pass defenses, and two fumble recoveries.

In parting ways with Wande Owens, the Bills close this chapter with a player who Buffalo Rumblings' own Chris Trapasso tabbed as his favorite under-the-radar story - someone who he thought had a real shot to push for playing time in 2026. A talented defender with plus athletic traits, Owens was battling to be part of the team's roster this season.

A former UDFA, Owens a productive rookie preseason in 2025, totaling five tackles in 45 exhibition snaps. However, a then-undisclosed injury saw the Bills wave him at the end of the preseason. He then went unclaimed and reverted to Buffalo's Injured Reserve for the entirety of the 2025 NFL season.

Physical Therapist and Doctor of Physical Therapy Kyle Trimble (@BangedUpBills) shared additional information on Owens this past January. His findings, based on photographic evidence, suggested Owens underwent an ACL reconstruction."

He was put on IR ahead of roster cut downs on 8/23 after leaving practice on 8/21.

In the photo below from Bills mandatory minicamp on June 9, you can see Owens (No. 30) wearing a heavy knee brace while performing drills. It remains unknown what Owens' status is as of July 31, but there were no reports of him missing time during the first few days of 2026 training camp.
