Training camp for the Arizona Cardinals is in full swing. Players return to practice on Sunday, August 2, and on Monday, August 3. Both practice sessions begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude around 6:00 p.m.

This year's camp has plenty of new bodies.

On Friday, the Cardinals lost cornerback Jaden Davis. He was seen walking with a trainer, leaving the practice field with a steady limp. He was placed on IR on Friday. This means his season is over unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

Davis was already in a dogfight in the cornerback room. This group is stuffed with talent. Davis was taken in Round 7 of the 2024 NFL draft and was a last-day cutdown. He was then signed to the practice squad. In 2025, he inked a reserve/futures contract, but suffered a knee injury and was placed on IR. He was then brought back and played in three games with three tackles on special teams.

With the hole left by Davis, the Cardinals have signed CB Quinton Newsome (6'-0", 195 pounds), formerly of the Houston Gamblers of the UFL. He went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the Denver Broncos. He spent bits and pieces with Denver for the past two seasons, including several stints on their practice squad.

Newsome was drafted by the Gamblers and ranked #21 in the league in total tackles with 44, along with 2 tackles for loss. He was clocked at 4.58 in the 40. At Nebraska, he played in 53 games and was a pandemic fifth-year senior. He had 149 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 17 batted passes, two forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries.

It has been rumored that the Cardinals are also signing DT Brodric Martin (6'-5", 330 pounds), former third-round pick of the Detroit Lions, but no official word yet from the front office.
