Washington worked out multiple center prospects on Saturday, and today John Keim is reporting the team is signing one of them, center Trey Hill.

Hill was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in twenty-five total games for the team, starting three, but was primarily a backup and special teams contributor. The Commanders are Trey's fifth team, with previous stops in Green Bay, Chicago, and Tennessee.

At 6'4'' and 319 pounds, Hill is a big-bodied, physical center, and according to his draft profile, has a good anchor. He moves well for his size, but Hill appears to be a poor fit for an outside zone scheme. Trey will most likely provide another body at the center position for camp while Nick Allegretti recovers from a calf strain, but he does offer some guard versatility in a pinch. His best-case scenario might be as a replacement for Julian Good-Jones on the practice squad.

In a corresponding move, the Washington Commanders released cornerback Tre Hawkins.
