George Frederick Fred" Hoaglin, who won two Super Bowls as an assistant coach with the Giants, died on Aug. 1.

He was 82.

Hoaglin was the Giants' offensive line coach from 1985-'92, during which he won two Super Bowls with the team - in 1986-'97 and 1990-'91.

He served under head coach Bill Parcells and alongside Tom Coughlin, who was the wide receivers coach on the latter Super Bowl team.

The Giants went 79-48 in the regular season and 7-2 in the playoffs during Hoaglin's tenure, making him the most successful offensive line coach in team history.

Team legend Harry Carson - who was on the 1986-'87 Super Bowl team - spoke to the Giants in-house website in 2011 about Hoaglin.

Fred said that whenever he would drive into practice he felt so lucky that he had the guys that he had, because they made his job so easy," Carson said. He said they were the best group of guys that he ever coached. That is the way that we were - we all worked together. We were on a single mission and that was to win a championship."

After his Giants tenure, Hoaglin followed Parcells to the Patriots and served as the team's offensive line coach from 1993-'96, during which they won the AFC championship before losing the Super Bowl in '96.

Hoaglin then followed Coughlin to the Jaguars, where he served as the tight ends coach from 1997-2001.

Prior to his Giants stint, Hoaglin served as the offensive line coach for the Lions from 1978-'84.

He had an illustrious 11-year career as a center as well, playing seven years with the Browns before short stints with the Colts, then-Oilers and Seahawks.

Hoaglin was a Pro Bowler in 1969.
