During their last week of team training camp, the Indianapolis Colts held the first of two joint training practices against the Atlanta Falcons, who the Horseshoe will host for Preseason Week 2 on Saturday afternoon.

As a whole, it felt like the Colts passing attack fared better than their running game offensively against the Falcons defense, but it was the Indianapolis defense that shined the most out there late Wednesday afternoon.

Boys, let's get to it:

Practice has wrapped up. Strange day for the Colts offense.

Pass game

Shane Steichen said Colts need to clean up some execution in the run game. But QB Daniel Jones was on fire for most of the day against the Falcons' secondary.

This first team period with the Falcons starting D vs Colts starting offense has already had a couple of breakdowns up front. Atlanta blows up a Jonathan Taylor run on the first snap and then Daniel Jones is sacked quickly a few plays later after a missed block.

Colts HC Shane Steichen confirmed TE Tyler Warren suffered groin injury in practice vs Falcons. Warren watched remainder of work from the side. Had right thigh wrapped at one point.

#Colts TE Tyler Warren walked off with a trainer. Noticeable limp. https://t.co/v18QKum6Cq

Josh Downs and Daniel Jones on the same page today.

Jones -> Downs, tipped by the defense, Downs maintains concentration for the catch, goes the distance for a long TD. Nice play.

Downs and Jones have connected 4 times already in team periods. #Colts

Daniel Jones' pass is tipped but Josh Downs corrals it for a great catch and ultimate TD. Would've been about a 55-yarder.

First #Colts offense on first #Falcons defense in 11 on 11.

Daniel Jones drops back, steps up, delivers a strike to Josh Downs for 15 yards. That's how it's supposed to look!

Falcons-Colts joint practice thoughts:

-Only two offensive highlights for Falcons, Drake leaping over Justin Walley and taking in a long TD and Z. Branch lowering his shoulder on a defensive back and winning that battle in the final period.

I'd give the Colts' defense a solid edge over the Falcons' offense today.

Aside from Drake London's big play, been tough sledding for Atlanta. A few sacks/pressures and TFLs. Falcons have hit a few good runs.

#Colts CB Justin Walley just jumped a route for a pick-six on #Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa. Indy defense was (understandably) pretty hyped.

Back-to-back practices for LBs Jaylon Carlies and Akeem Davis-Gaither rolling with the #Colts starting defense.

It's been a constant rotation throughout training camp, but still worth noting.

Tyler Warren went down in practice, appeared to be a groin issue. Leaving with trainer now.

In addition, DJ Giddens opened practice in uniform, but after individual he left with a trainer and appeared to be indicating his hamstring, which has kept him out the last couple weeks

- Joel A. Erickson (@JoelAErickson) August 19, 2026

After individual work, Giddens has been doing additional solo work with a trainer. Wind sprints & resistance band work largely. https://t.co/JC34Gwjwlw
