Five Observations from Wednesday's Practice | Chiefs Training Camp 8/19 | The Mothership
5. Here's a look at Wednesday's injury report.
Offensive tackle Josh Simmons (back), offensive guard Trey Smith (hip), offensive tackle Matt Waletzko (knee), linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee), wide receiver Jimmy Holiday (groin), defensive end Ashton Gillotte (foot) and wide receiver Jeff Weimer (hamstring) didn't practice for the Chiefs on Wednesday.
Wide receiver Jeff Caldwell (knee) left early.
Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (knee) remains on the Physically Unable to Perform" list (PUP) and did not participate in Wednesday's practice, either.
The play of the day likely came on one-on-ones, with Allen making a one-handed catch to beat Delane despite close coverage.
I think Cyrus has come in and he's taken the coaching," receivers coach Chad O'Shea said. He's done a great job of working extremely hard and trying to concentrate on the things that we've asked him to do."
Chiefs host offensive linemen John Campbell and Kellen Diesch for tryouts
The two players the Chiefs hosted suggest there might be bad news about Matt Waletzko's knee injury. John Campbell and Kellen Diesch each have experience playing tackle, but the flexibility to play inside. They fit that similar mold as Waletzko.
Campbell could help extend the UFL-to-NFL pipeline. He played college football at Miami and Tennessee. The 6-foot-5 and 309-pound tackle played 43 games with 27 career starts in college. His final season at Tennessee saw him play the right tackle position. He went undrafted in 2025 and didn't catch on with an NFL club. However, he found his spot in the UFL. In 2026, he won a UFL title with the Louisville Kings after defeating the DC Defenders 27-20 in the United Bowl.
Chiefs' Travis Kelce Welcomes Special Guest on Final Day of Training Camp | Heavy Sports
Listen, I think Jason's great," Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo said after practice. He and I talk a lot about the, you know, coordinator/center battle when we used to go against each other, and he's great. He's into it."
I remember that one. He did this. I said, I remember when he got us on that one," Spagnuolo continued, recalling a time when Kelce got the better of his defense. I'm a big fan. He lives out there outside of Philadelphia, and we go back there a lot. I had a chance to play golf with him this summer, and I look forward to maybe doing that again sometime. They're just good people, those Kelces, right? How can you not want to be around them?"

I don't think it's going to change the process itself, so to speak, I think we're still going to go about it the way we do in terms of watching as many bubble guys as we can, talking to teams, getting as much information as we can," said Bradway.

Examining the Chiefs' rookie defensive linemen in Preseason Week 1
From The FeedFollow Arrowhead Pride on Social MediaOn a critical third down in the low red zone, Thomas came blazing off the snap, quickly landed inside with hands on the left tackle, and managed to slip past using low pad level. The pressure forces a quick throw into coverage and an incompletion.
Leaving Oklahoma, many labeled Thomas a pass-rush specialist, but in camp and this past weekend he has done a good job showing he can make plays in the run game.
