Arizona Cardinals Daily Links: Safety Wydett Williams could go back to college
CANTON, OHIO - AUGUST 06: Wydett Williams Jr. #31 of the Arizona Cardinals waits for the snap during the fourth quarter of the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game against the Carolina Panthers at Tom Benson Hall Of Fame Stadium on August 06, 2026 in Canton, Ohio. (Photo by Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images) | Diamond Images/Getty ImagesOn Thursday morning, a group of 16 former college football players received a court order allowing them the chance to return to college and player another year. Most of these players, including current Cardinals safety Wydett Williams Jr., have already spent the offseason with NFL teams and have seen time on the field in at least one preseason game.
The interesting part is that Williams can continue to play for the Cardinals through the remainder of the preseason in pursuit of making the final roster. If he does not, then the option to go back to college and make what money he can there, is still on the table.
This is such a unique situation that I simply want to ask what everyone's thoughts are regarding this court order and whether or not you believe it's just another step in the wrong direction for college football as a whole.
Is such a sacred sport on the brink of crossing that point of no return? Is this just a natural step of evolution that we all must accept and adapt with? Let us know all of your thoughts below!
