NFL Week 3 betting advice: Giants-Titans picks and props
Welcome to theNew York Giantsbetting angle, Week 3 edition! Each week, I'm giving you my three favorite wagers for that week's New York Giants game. My one rule: I won't ever give you wagers that are less than -120. No gimmes!
The Giants come home on Sunday licking (and nursing) their wounds after what can only be described as a very sad few days in Los Angeles. The euphoria of the huge opening day win over Dallas quickly gave way to the reality that the team's young franchise quarterback is lost for the remainder of the regular season. Not only must the team soldier on without Jaxson Dart, but a critical year of on-field development with the new coaching staff will be lost. No team or fan base experienced a bigger emotional swing over the first two weeks of this season than Big Blue and its great fans.
I won't belabor what happened on Monday night, other than to note that the season isn't over. There's a lot of football left to play for John Harbaugh's team. Jameis Winston takes over for Dart, and he's one of the more capable and experienced backups in the league.
There's some good news for the Giants. Their Week 3 opponent is the 0-2 Tennessee Titans, who had the first and fourth overall draft picks in 2025 and 2026 - meaning they've been even worse than the Giants, who had the third and sixth picks in those same drafts. The Titans fought hard against the Eagles at home last week in brutally hot conditions, only to lose the game on the final drive. A different kind of weather issue will greet the Titans this week. Steady rain and gusty wind is expected throughout the game on Sunday, so it should be a low-scoring affair, and turnovers could decide the outcome. Winston is a gambler, and will need to play smarter than he did on Monday night.
One interesting subplot: There are coaches on both sides with plenty of familiarity with the other team, including Titans' OC Brian Daboll and Giants' QB coach and passing game coordinator Brian Callahan. Both Brians - Daboll (2-8 at the time of his dismissal) and Callahan (1-5 at the time of his) were relieved of their Head Coaching duties during the season last year, by the team they'll be facing on Sunday. I'm sure Daboll wants to hang as many points as he can on New York.
After going 2-1 in Week 1, I crapped out last week, at 0-3. Two of my bets were linked to the Giants' offense and the Dart injury sealed my fate early.
The line for the game is Giants -2.5, and the game total of 38.5 is the lowest on the board this week. The line moved four points on the Dart injury news, and the total surely reflects the dismal weather forecast.
Let's get to this week's picks. All lines and odds are from Fanduel and are as of Saturday, September 26.
- Giants - 2.5 (-114). I think the Giants will be fired up, and will do enough to get the win in front of a soaked but enthusiastic home crowd. I also think the Titans aren't a very good team, and should be getting at least a field goal from just about every other NFL team and especially on the road. Even with the injuries to Dart, the secondary, and edge defender Brian Burns, I think Big Blue still has a roster edge. The weather, and Winston's penchant for mistakes, scare me a little, but I'm OK laying less than a field goal to this team.
- Cam Skattebo OVER 57.5 rushing yards (-114). New York will surely try to establish the run, and stick with it given the weather. The Titans are allowing 120 rushing yards per game, which is in the bottom half of the league. I expect New York to have something in the neighborhood of 30 rushing attempts (if not more), and Skat to get to this total, even with him sharing touches.
- Cam Ward UNDER 187.5 passing yards (-114). I'm sure the Titans will also try to pound the ball. This total would be normal for Ward in good weather - he averages slightly less than 185 passing yards per start for his career. The Giants' secondary is banged up, and they'll probably be without Brian Burns. No matter - this is a big number for Ward in bad weather.
