Eric Saubert? Josh Cameron? Those were just a few of several random TD scorers who had fantasy football managers tilting in Week 3

It's been a weird fantasy football slate in Week 3, to say the least. Not only are some teams underperforming on Sunday but we're seeing an unusual amount of touchdowns from random players, which has us scrambling to search to see who exactly they are.

Instead of Brian Thomas Jr. scoring, it was Josh Cameron. Instead of Dalton Schultz off a 12-catch game, it was Foster Moreau.

If you're tilting your face off because your fantasy starter didn't get into the end zone, believe us when we say, you're not alone.

Let's recap all the random-guy touchdowns off the early slate on Sunday - AKA players with Yahoo roster rates of 0% - that have us questioning all of our fantasy football decisions in Week 3.

What the Ruckert?

That header was on purpose, yes.

Jets QB Geno Smith entered Week 3 with a solid matchup against a weak Lions secondary. While Geno proved to be a solid QB streamer, we also thought skill position players like Garrett Wilson and RB Breece Hall would eat. That wasn't the case.

Kenyon Sadiq isn't a random name, a first-round pick from this year's NFL Draft who was brought in to help shape a new-look offense. He put together his best performance in the NFL so far, catching seven of eight targets for 105 yards and a TD. But with New York down Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell and Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert was more involved in the passing game. He caught all four of his targets for 34 yards and a score, a solid day for a TE streamer. Not that anyone streamed him ...

Wilson would go on to score later in the game and put up big numbers for managers (10-107-1). But still, it could have been an even better performance. We can be greedy, that's okay.

Seahawks? Y'all OK?

The defending champs looked likely to improve to 3-0 on the season as they headed to face the lowly Commanders without QB Jayden Daniels. Seattle, viewed as the best defense in the NFL by many, made Marcus Mariota look like Peyton Manning in a 33-31 loss on Sunday.

That's beside the point. The point is, with Sam Darnold back under center, we figured we'd continue to see JSN pumped with targets. While he did get plenty of targets and yards (and scored twice), Smith-Njigba simply could have had another hat trick. Instead, we got a TD from Saubert, the backup TE behind AJ Barner (5-69-0). Saubert didn't do much else in the game, other than tilt Barner managers. Oh, we also saw JSN TRIPLE-teamed in the fourth quarter, allowing old-man Cooper Kupp find paydirt for the first time this season.

On the Commanders side, while Terry McLaurin was able to find the end zone, we also got a TD from Treylon Burks, who was looking like he'd be on the field a ton before the team brought in Stefon Diggs, who had just four catches for 33 yards.

Steelers passing game comes alive

Aaron Rodgers clearly likes playing the Bengals. A-Rod threw for three touchdowns on Sunday vs. Cincinnati, but not exactly to who you would have thought. Michael Pittman Jr. was brought in via trade to be a top target for Rodgers. But the veteran QB has always done what he wants.

Pittman was quiet after missing Week 2. DK Metcalf caught a TD but not much else with only a few catches for 17 yards. So who did Rodgers throw to? Pat Freiermuth, right? ... right?

WRONG. Rodgers spun a TD to Roman Wilson and another to Ben Skowronek, like we all drew up before the game. If you invested a late-round pick hoping Pittman would emerge as the favorite target of Rodgers, well, you may want that pick back.

Also, Darnell Washington didn't score but did have a 47-yard catch that got him to a respectable 3-67-0 line. Better than Freiermuth's 3-30.

Quick Hitters

-Josh Cameron now has two touchdowns for the Jaguars on the season, while Brian Thomas Jr. still hasn't found the end zone. Who else saw that coming?

-De'Von Achane was forced to leave Week 3 early with what seems to be a serious knee injury. Ollie Gordon II took advantage with a TD on the same drive after Achane left. Gordon will be a trendy waiver wire add this week after a 17-41-1 line with three catches versus the Chiefs.

-John Metchie III scored a late TD for Carolina, which struggled most of Sunday vs. the Browns. Managers were hoping for big games from Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker, but that wasn't the case as the duo combined for four catches on nine targets for 35 yards.

-Last week, the Texans leaned heavily on Dalton Schultz in the passing game with Nico Collins sidelined to the tune of a 12-140-0 line. We expected another healthy dose of targets for Schultz in a good matchup versus the Colts defense. Instead, we got a 3-30-0 dud from Schultz and a TD for Foster Moreau. Feels bad.
