This strip was undeniably inspired by the night staff at the Journal. They were all rough-around-the-edges folk who were WAY more fun and relaxed to be around than, say, the advertising staff.

And yes, the publishers of The Tribune were modeled after good old Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets. I'm pretty sure I unofficially named them Superaight and Econolodge but with any luck those idiotic names never made it into any published strips.

Hey, so over the last weekend I got to attend the prestigious/ridiculous Reuben Awards put on by the NCS! I say "ridiculous" because, y'know, cartoons. Anyway, GWS won a Silver Reuben for the online comics (short form) division! The other nominees for that division were Wide Open by Rich Powell (who was at my table and was wonderful!) and Rabbits Against Magic by by Jonathan Lemon (who was absent but I will probably someday discover that he's also wonderful). Thanks so much to everyone at the event for making me feel so welcome, and for being ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS both on and off the stage.
