On a recent episode of BBC Earth Unplugged, hosts Sam and Si examine the incredible jumping capacity of a locust (also known as a swarming grasshopper) in slow motion, noting how the insect can leap over ten times it's own body length, though not always in an exacting manner.

Locusts jump using a catapult mechanism. "Jumps aren't always straight or upright as locusts jump quickly to evade predators, but their tough exoskeletons can deal with the crash landings.
