In collaboration with HRL Laboratories and Caltech, Boeing has developed a strong and resilient material called Microlattice whose structure is made up of 99.99% air, making it the lightest material ever made. A piece of Microlattice is so light that it can rest on top of a dandelion, and Boeing hopes to use the material to make lighter and more fuel-efficient aircraft.

The material is featured in a new short film by Boeing with Sophia Yang from HRL Laboratories explaining its potential uses and how it was developed.
