In 1990 Mickey Estes shot an entire concert video of a very young Green Day playing live at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California (located in the East Bay). Both lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt went to school there.
Shortly after changing their name from Sweet Children to Green Day, this band performed at the annual Foreign Foods Day at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California. This was filmed on May 10, 1990. The quality is good because a professional quality Sony video camera - not a camcorder - was used. This second set was filmed by a couple classmates of mine. I filmed the second Green Day set using a conventional VHS camcorder.
