William Nylander's World Junior Hockey Championship is over.

The Swedish forward and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect was ruled out for Monday's semifinal vs. Finland as well as Sweden's medal game Tuesday. He'll return to Toronto immediately, according to the International Ice Hockey Federation.

Nylander was clocked at center ice in Sweden's tournament opener on Dec. 26 by Switzerland's Chris Egli. He left the game, didn't return, and hasn't played since after suffering what most believe was a concussion. The IIHF said he suffered a head injury.

Sweden's faring well without Nylander, as it is yet to lose a game at the WJHC and walked all over Slovakia in the quarters, 6-0.

The 19-year-old is the future of the Maple Leafs, and remains second in the American Hockey League in scoring with 35 points in 27 games, despite heading overseas to Finland for the tournament.

Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello had the following to say about Nylander, according to TSN's Mark Masters:

The decision for William not to play the rest of the tournament was the right decision. He will return to Toronto and be reevaluated by our team physicians. We have been in constant communication with the Swedish Federation and have been supportive of all their decisions throughout this process.
