New York City has launched the first two LinkNYC Wi-Fi kiosks to provide free one-gigabit Internet access, USB charging, calling, and city services. The two kiosks are located on 15th and 17th Street and 3rd Avenue and work within approximately a 150-foot radius.

As covered previously, the city will be rolling out a network that will replace more than 7,500 payphones with the Wi-Fi kiosks over the next eight years. The services will be offered freely and paid for by advertising.
