I got a spare M.2 SSD for my Chrome Box so that I could play with the box without messing up the original Chrome OS image. Turns out, this peice of hardware was totally not needed. Chrome OS comes with a rather simple "Restore USB Drive" tool that you can use to backup your Chrome OS image to a spare thumb drive. To restore Chrome OS to its orginal settings, simply insert the Restore Stick in a USB slot and reboot the Box. The custom UEFI performs the restore process without needing to do any fancy hardware swapping. |
