An interesting discussion / debate with Eliezer Yudkowsky on whether AI will end humanity. For some, this may be fascinating, frustrating, terrifying, spur more curiosity, I have no idea. I feel like we each tried our best to make our case, even if we got lost in the weeds a few times. There's definitely food for thought here either way. Also, I screwed up and the chat text ended up being too tiny, sorry about that. EXTRA: I'm not the best at thinking on the fly, so here are two key points I tried to make that got a little lost in the discussion: 1. I think our entire disagreement rests on Eliezer seeing increasingly refined AI conclusively making the jump to actual intelligence, whereas I do not see that. I only see software that mimics many observable characteristics of intelligence and gets better at it the more it's refined. 2. My main point of the stuff about real v. fake + biological v. machine evolution was only to say that just because a process shares some characteristics with another one, other emergent properties aren't necessarily shared also. In many cases, they aren't. This strikes me as the case for human intelligence v. machine learning. MY CONCLUSION By the end, I honestly couldn't tell if he was making a faith-based argument that increasingly refined AI will lead to true intelligence, despite being unsubstantiated OR if he did substantiate it and I was just too dumb to connect the dots. Maybe some of you can figure it out!

Merry Christmas Dungeon! This episode ended up getting away from me, I meant to have it much shorter, but ended up seeing too many things I wanted to talk about. Have a good Christmas!

November videochat. Talked about twitter, billionaires, muppets, batman quotes, etc. This one went better than usual, I think. Still felt a little crazy after doing this, but there were some good topics this time. It went on too long again.

No real news to report since last time, just been working on a lot of small things + a larger side video I've been meaning to do for a while. For those who have "Tr-Trickstyle" stuck in your head now, it's happened to me too.

Trickstyle! This ended up taking me MUCH longer than I anticipated, but as you'll see, it has some bonuses in it that help make it worth it. I also ran into editing errors AGAIN using completely different codecs this time. I really need to figure out what the hell is going on and whether to blame Bandicam, Handbrake, Premiere, or everyone. This is the 3rd "countdown" video out of 9 or 10, after which I'm going to go all-in on the movie for a while.

Halloween Game Dungeon! This was supposed to come out 1-2 days ago, but it's before Halloween, so it's still less under the wire than normally. This game was definitely an experience, not what I expected.

My video plans also changed since I didn't want to release a non-Halloween Game Dungeon so close to Halloween, but new videos are still coming soon. I'm hoping to break the curse and actually get the Halloween episode done early this year. These will all be part of the "countdown" videos I'm doing before I go all-in on the movie for a while.

New Dead Game News, has a bit of a twist at the end. Will resume the normal videos before long. I'm not counting DGN against my countdown for a big push on the movie since this was unplanned and only took a couple days.

New Game Dungeon! This is one that escalated for me and demanded I pay more attention to it than I would have. This is also the first video of my "countdown" of 8-10 videos where at the end of them I'm going to dive headlong into the "The Movie" likely for months. 7-9 more coming!

The long FM episode is coming + the next Game Dungeon escalated and it may pay off to have it delayed, so I'm working on the next-next Game Dungeon instead.

Here's the latest June videochat. This one was a bit of a mess since my voice started going after 15 minutes (but came back), the framerate recorded low again (I need to troubleshoot that), and I rambled way too much. I kept the door closed to my room to cut back on noise, but I think it resulted in me not getting enough oxygen. I'm not sure I said anything of value except the part at the end about a documented case where 80% of public comments to the FCC were faked.

The curse has been lifted, new Game Dungeon! In retrospect, this one went on for too long, I recommend watching it in chunks. I hope to have things be a little more refined in the future. Next ones won't take as long to come out!

There's a small chance this gets postponed since I've had crippling headaches out of nowhere for the past several days, but so far the pills help. Work continues on more videos!

New Freeman's Mind episode! Next one should come out faster!

I'm postponing the next videochat until I have a new video out. It's bugging too much that there hasn't been one yet. I've had 2 videos voiced and recorded for weeks (semi-done), but I haven't finished them off, since I've transitioned to getting more help. This means I can work on more things, but individually, the videos go slower, since I can't push other people crunch-mode style the way I can push myself. In the past, I would have just said hell with it and gone and done everything myself, but that mentality is probably what's led me to falling behind so much over the years, because it takes time away from the other videos. I'm having to fight all my instincts to NOT do that. I know it really doesn't seem like it, but I think this is going to lead to more videos in the long term. As an update, here's what's happening: Freeman's Mind 2 Ep. 17 - Voiced and recorded for weeks, waiting on sound effects Next Ross's Game Dungeon - Voiced and recorded, partially edited, waiting on audio / video help, one person may or may not be sick Side Video #1 - Still a lot to do, this one is ambitious, been approaching it slowly Side Video #2 - Was getting bottlenecked because of me, hope to un-jam soon, a lot has been done already Freeman's Mind 2 Ep. 18 - footage recorded, started doing dialogue Next Next Ross's Game Dungeon - Started on some footage and preliminary work, will probably finish up more stuff before I do more on this. This is driving me a little crazy (not the people helping me, just it being SO LONG since I've had a new video), since if I was doing everything myself, I'm pretty sure I would have 2 new videos by now, but NOTHING done ahead of them. So I'm trying to be smart about this. My instincts are not to be smart about this. Sorry about all the delays, this will get resolved one way or another.

April videochat with fans. My current video schedule is a trainwreck, but I'm still putting it back together. I rambled too much again, but there were some interesting topics. I accidentally had an echo of everything at one point, but it went away after 30 seconds to a minute. New videos coming ASAP.

My original plans lie smoldering in ruin and I'm embarrassed how there still isn't a new video yet. I don't think there's been a gap this long since the original Civil Protection episodes, I was considering cancelling the videochat because of it. I'm still optimistic though, there are 4 partially done videos and all involve help from others, so I can't say which is coming next, but I'm working stuff every day. I still think I'll be able to make up for the long lull lately.

I had another interview, mostly Valve related questions. His format was a 1v1 deathmatch at the same time. I didn't really like the format since I'm poor at multitasking, but the interview went fine. March videochat with fans. There were some problems with OBS where it WOULD NOT display the full chat window, suspect it's something to do with Windows DPI settings, will try and fix it for next time. Rambled too much again. More videos still coming!

I was interviewed by another Youtube channel earlier this week, he asked questions about the GUI, games, technology. I was partially coherent, but I think I rambled too much too. Also, not the tag line I would have used on the thumbnail.

February videochat with fans. Talked about a several things, Microsoft buying Blizzard, minor drama with the Youtube channel, usual ramblings. Towards the end, someone made a post about the Copyright office that sounded helpful for regulating games as a service, but it ended up being a false alarm, you can disregard a lot of what I said there. Instead it's just another restrictive measure on IP on the internet, not helpful at all.
